Nigerian content creator and comedian Carter Efe has retained his celebrity boxing title after defeating rapper and social media personality Speed Darlington in a highly anticipated bout in Lagos.
The four-round contest took place on Thursday, October 1, at Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, as part of the “Chaos in the Ring” Independence Edition, organised by Balmoral Promotions to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary.
Reports on the official outcome differ slightly, with several outlets reporting that Efe won by unanimous decision, while others said the referee stopped the fight and awarded him a technical knockout after Darlington stopped responding.
The victory extends Efe’s unbeaten run in the celebrity boxing series. He previously defeated singer Habeeb “Portable” Badmus by unanimous decision in May, with all three judges scoring their three-round contest 30-27 in his favour.
Speaking after the fight, Efe credited his partner, Taylor Jasmine, for motivating him. He also expressed interest in taking on international opponents, including American boxer and former world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr.
The bout attracted significant attention because both entertainers had built a public rivalry ahead of their first meeting in the ring. Their clash also highlighted the growing popularity of celebrity boxing in Nigeria, where entertainment personalities are increasingly participating in organised boxing events.
Speed Darlington had previously competed against Portable in 2025 but lost by technical knockout after failing to continue into the second round.
Efe’s latest victory therefore strengthens his position as one of the prominent figures in Nigeria’s emerging celebrity boxing scene while keeping the Chaos in the Ring title in his possession.
