Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Phyna, has emerged victorious over Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing in a celebrity boxing bout, taking home ₦50 million, a championship belt and a brand-new car.
Phyna, whose real name is Josephina Otabor, defeated Nkechi Blessing in the fourth and final round of their scheduled contest at Balmoral Promotions’ “Chaos in the Ring” event held at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The reality star relied on her speed and movement during the early stages of the fight as Nkechi pressed forward in search of close-range exchanges. Phyna eventually landed the decisive punch in the fourth round, sending the actress to the canvas and ending the contest.
Following her victory, Phyna reflected on her transition from reality television to boxing, saying, “From reality TV to the boxing ring, I’ve always been willing to challenge myself, break barriers and prove that there is so much more to Phyna than what people see.”
The victory is significant as the contest marked the first female celebrity boxing bout staged under Balmoral Promotions’ “Chaos in the Ring” series. Phyna also indicated that she could pursue professional boxing following her successful debut in the celebrity contest.
After the fight, Phyna turned her attention to another potential opponent, challenging actress Etinosa Idemudia, who accepted the challenge at the venue.
The “Chaos in the Ring” event also featured a celebrity bout between Carter Efe and Speed Darlington, while Ghanaian boxer Seth “Freezy Macbones” Gyimah defeated Godday “Zodsolo” Appah in the professional main event.
