Nollywood actress Chioma Chukwuka-Akpotha has announced the death of her father, Leonard Ndukaife Chukwuka, in an emotional tribute shared on social media.
The actress disclosed the news on Friday, October 2, 2026, saying she struggled to find the right words to express her grief. She described her late father as her “daddy,” “papa’m,” “obara’m” and “comfort.”
“My beloved father, Leonard Ndukaife Chukwuka, has gone to be with the Lord,” Chioma wrote.
The actress said the loss was particularly painful because her mother died 13 years ago. With her father’s passing, she said she is now facing life without either parent.
“I lost my mother 13 years ago and now that my father is gone, the thought that I have neither parent here anymore breaks my heart in a way I cannot fully explain. So na only me bayi?” she wrote.
Despite her grief, Chioma expressed gratitude for her father’s life and the opportunity he had to see his children and grandchildren. She also reflected on the memories they shared, particularly toward the end of his life.
“No matter how many years we are given with a parent, we still want one more conversation, one more embrace, one more day,” she said.
The actress explained that she kept the death private initially as she tried to process her grief. She subsequently appealed to fans, colleagues and well-wishers to pray for her, her siblings and the entire Chukwuka family. Funeral arrangements, she said, would be announced when the family was ready.
Chioma Chukwuka-Akpotha is a veteran Nollywood actress, producer and director whose career spans more than two decades. Her father’s death comes 13 years after the passing of her mother, Grace Egoyibo Chukwuka, in May 2013.
