The Coalition for the Protection of Democracy (COPDEM) has announced its readiness to provide the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) with reliable network connectivity to facilitate the timely and seamless upload of election results from polling units across Nigeria, free of charge.

As part of its commitment to strengthening electoral transparency and protecting the integrity of the 2027 General Elections, COPDEM is also prepared to deploy its independent IREV infrastructure, supported by a nationwide network of recruited and trained Polling Unit Monitors.
Through this independent monitoring infrastructure, COPDEM Polling Unit Monitors will be positioned across the country to capture and transmit the Form EC8A results sheets directly from polling units, providing an additional, independent layer of real-time election-result documentation. COPDEM further assured that its technology has the capability to record and transmit real-time situation reports from polling units, thereby providing timely updates on the conduct of the electoral process.
The initiative is designed to complement INEC’s existing electoral technology and strengthen the transparency, accessibility and credibility of the results-management process.
COPDEM believes that every Nigerian should have the ability to independently verify what happened at their polling unit. By combining reliable network connectivity with independent polling-unit monitoring, real-time transmission of EC8A results and situation reports, the organisation seeks to reduce information gaps, discourage manipulation of results and enhance public confidence in the electoral process.
COPDEM therefore calls on INEC and other relevant electoral stakeholders to consider this offer as a non-partisan, cost-free contribution to Nigeria’s democratic process.
The organisation remains committed to working within the law and alongside legitimate electoral institutions to ensure that the votes cast by Nigerians are accurately documented, transmitted and protected.
