Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has urged voters in the North-Central region to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, saying his administration is committed to improving security, strengthening national unity and building a more prosperous country.
Mrs Tinubu made the appeal on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at the All Progressives Congress (APC) North-Central campaign rally in Lafia, Nasarawa State. The event mobilised party members and supporters ahead of the next presidential election.
The First Lady described the President as a leader willing to make difficult decisions and argued that returning him to office would give the administration an opportunity to consolidate its policies and development programmes.
She pointed to what she described as signs of economic stabilisation, improved foreign exchange conditions, renewed investor interest and infrastructure development across states.
“We can see that our economy is stabilising. Foreign exchange is going down, and investors are coming back to Nigeria,” she said, according to reports of her address.
Mrs Tinubu also highlighted government support programmes for vulnerable households, including food assistance for children and pregnant or breastfeeding women. She urged party members to take the administration’s message to their communities and mobilise support for the President, Vice-President Kashim Shettima and other APC candidates.
Other speakers at the rally included APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume and governors from the North-Central region. They also called for continuity and defended the administration’s economic and infrastructure policies.
The rally comes as the ruling party steps up political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections. Security and the cost of living remain major public concerns, while the government has maintained that its economic reforms are laying the foundation for long-term growth.
The North-Central geopolitical zone comprises Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger and Plateau states, as well as the Federal Capital Territory. The region will be an important battleground as political parties seek support ahead of the presidential vote.
