The publication is significant because it provides voters with an official reference for identifying the candidates and their political affiliations ahead of the election. It also allows political parties, observers and the public to scrutinise the final register as campaigns and preparations continue.

The race is expected to draw attention to key issues affecting residents, including infrastructure, education, healthcare, employment, security and the state’s economic development.

Oyo State is currently governed by Seyi Makinde, whose second term is due to end in 2027. The next election will determine his successor and the direction of the state’s administration for the following four years.

INEC is responsible for organising and supervising elections in Nigeria. Voters are encouraged to consult the commission’s official publications for verified candidate information and further updates.
