Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has criticised Big Brother Naija reality star Phyna over what she described as her frequent confrontations with people on social media.
The actress made the remarks in an Instagram video on September 17, 2026, where she directly addressed Phyna and urged her to exercise restraint in her online interactions. Nkechi questioned why the reality star appeared to be involved in repeated disputes on the internet.
“Phyna, must you fight with everybody? You’re doing too much,” Nkechi said, adding that the reality star should calm down and be more careful about how she addresses people online. She also reminded Phyna that she was 37 and older than her.
Nkechi further questioned whether Phyna had people around her who could advise her, urging her to avoid what she described as unnecessary internet drama.
“You are becoming a nuisance on the street of Instagram,” the actress said, while also reflecting on her own past experiences with social media controversies. She said she had previously been involved in online drama but found greater peace after stepping away from it.
Phyna subsequently responded to the actress, questioning why Nkechi had publicly criticised her despite the two having previously communicated about a possible movie project and other professional matters.
The reality star described the situation as unexpected and referred to Nkechi as “grandma” in her response, while questioning whether the actress was seeking attention from the confrontation.
The exchange quickly attracted attention among entertainment followers, with social media users debating the comments from both celebrities.
The dispute became even more significant after organisers announced that Nkechi Blessing and Phyna would face each other in a celebrity boxing match scheduled for October 1, 2026, at the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos. The bout is part of Balmoral Promotions’ “Chaos in the Ring” series.
The planned fight means the disagreement, which began with an online exchange, could now extend into a highly publicised entertainment event. The organisers have described the rivalry as real and said the bout will be broadcast on DAZN and SuperSport.
Celebrity boxing has increasingly combined social media rivalries with live entertainment in Nigeria, with previous events featuring personalities such as Portable, Carter Efe, Charles Okocha and Speed Darlington.
