Abuja, Nigeria— The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) House of Representatives candidate for Jos South East Federal Constituency, Prince Simon Chiroma Dangyang, has condemned the persistent insecurity in Plateau State, expressing concern over its devastating effects on the state’s economy, livelihoods and overall development.
Dangyang criticised what he described as a lack of sufficient government commitment to ending the prolonged security crisis, which has continued to affect communities, disrupt economic activities and threaten the safety of residents across the state.
He called on the people of Plateau State to rise above their present challenges and participate actively in the democratic process, urging voters to consider the NDC across elective positions in the forthcoming elections.
The candidate made the call shortly after receiving his Certificate of Return as the NDC’s recognised candidate for Jos South East Federal Constituency at the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting and the unveiling of its campaign council.
According to Dangyang, the persistent insecurity confronting Plateau State requires urgent and sustained attention, with a renewed commitment to protecting lives and property, restoring public confidence and creating an environment where businesses, farmers, traders and other residents can pursue their livelihoods without fear.
He stressed that the people of Plateau State deserve security, economic opportunities and accountable leadership, adding that addressing insecurity must remain a priority for any government committed to the welfare and development of its citizens.
Dangyang also called on Plateau youths to become actively involved in the NDC, describing youth participation as an important component of the party’s grassroots mobilisation efforts.
He encouraged young people across the state to join the party and contribute their ideas, energy and organisational capacity to what he described as a collective effort to rescue Nigeria from decades of misgovernance and corruption.
The NDC candidate maintained that meaningful political change requires active citizen participation, grassroots organisation and a commitment to democratic accountability.
He urged residents, particularly young people, to move beyond expressing frustration over the country’s challenges and become involved in the political process through peaceful and lawful democratic engagement.
Dangyang’s remarks place security, economic recovery, youth participation and accountable governance at the centre of his political message as the NDC intensifies its preparations for the 2027 general elections.
His appeal also highlights the importance of sustained public attention to the security challenges facing Plateau State and the need for concrete measures to protect communities, restore livelihoods and support economic recovery.
As political activities gather momentum ahead of the elections, the candidate is calling for greater grassroots participation and urging Plateau residents to make their choices through the ballot.
